God, open your fkin ears!

Kinja'd!!!

A safely taken picture, probably.

It’s been about 6 months since my last vehicular mal function... so things were INEVITABLY going to change!

Okay, quick disclaimer here; as you can probably see from that photo, The Service Engine Soon light here isn’t the only problem with my ( practically) peachy 330Ci. It’s the only problem, apart from the fact that I’ve been driving around with cracked and broken wiring inside the dynamic moving assembly of the passenger headlamp. Silly Germans and their small wires on moving parts. Hopefully I’ll be diving into fixing that one on Saturday. This new problem is probably punishment for going camping last weekend instead of re-wiring my dynamic headlights. Fun!

Anyways, this new issue popped up on my way home today, in rush hour and heavy rain to boot. Everything seemed to be going fine but then the SES flickered on. Happened at 60mph and things still seemed fine, so I pressed on. It went off maybe 30 seconds later but came back on when I got back on throttle. Felt more like a misfire this time but it was hard to hear it over the rain.

Sure enough, when I checked my codes after I got home, a P0305 code popped up indicating a misfire in cylinder 5, in addition to P0171 (system too lean, bank 1) and P0300 (random cylinder misfire).

Hopefully it’s just an ignition coil. I had this problem back in the spring and replaced all my plugs, but one of my coils was the culprit. I’ll probably dig into it later tonight after my SO goes to bed. We’ll see! Let the German car roulette continue :)

Leave it to an Opponaught to take one handed pictures of his dash at 70mph in the rain, so he can complain about his trashed bimmer.

It was 65 in a 70 in the rain thank you very much! But yeah, probably not a great idea. Point well taken.
